Pomona Christmas Parade

The return of the Pomona Christmas Parade to downtown Pomona was on schedule, in spite of the rain. The community came together in wonderful spirit to make all Pomonans proud and bring back a sense of togetherness that will only improve as time goes on. It was the intent of the parade committee to include any group, organization, or individual who wanted to participate. No one was turned away. To all who participated in the parade, thank you for braving the weather and coming out. For all those who viewed the parade, we hope you had a good time. We will be back next year, so mark your calendars for the second Saturday in December. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Pomona Christmas Parade

Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 12, 2009, 10AM to 12PM. That's the day the Pomona Christmas Parade returns to downtown. Its been over 40 years since the parade marched down Second Street, but now it's back. This year's parade promises to be full of fun and excitement with bands, floats, horses, drill teams, classic cars, low riders, service groups, businesses, and more. The theme this year is "The Colors of Christmas". Dignitaries from far and wide will be there (can't tell you who just yet). The Grand Marshal(s) are the kids from Village Academy High School who gained national attention when President Obama recognized them in a major speech and later visited with them during his tour of the Edison International Vehicle Electric Plant right here in Pomona.

You'll see floats from the Fairplex, Historical Society, Pomona's Art Colony, Pomona's Opera Company, a Gospel Choir, Cal Poly, the Vietnamese Community, local churches, Pomona's Cultural Arts Commission, just to name a few. Of course Santa Claus will be there, this year he's bringing Mrs Claus with him.

Route: Parade staging will be at 3rd and Gibbs St. The parade will go west on 2nd St. to Park Ave. At Park Ave. the parade will go south to 8th St. At 8th St. parade will go east to disband. It’s approximately one mile. Judging for bands will be held on Park Ave.
